Why we LOVE it?

IPL Photofacials is our go-to color correction facial. IPL is proven to roll back the visible signs of premature aging skin by dissolving damaged capillaries or discolored skin cells and boosting collagen production. This unique skin treatment reduces skin discolorations such as sun spots/pigmentation, age spots and relieves rosacea redness.

Why choose Violet Skin Boutique?

At Violet we use the top of the line technology. The M22 is made by Lumenis, who invented, advanced and perfected the IPL. Their long history in IPL technology ensures optimal efficacy, safety, and consistency. The Optimal Pulse Technology helps provides reproducible results as well as gentler, safer and more comfortable treatments.

Continuous cooling throughout your procedure further decreases discomfort, protects your skin, and saves time while ensuring an optimal outcome.

Of course great technology still needs the right operator. Our Lumenis & NLI certified RNs are experts in assessing lesion characteristics, choosing the appropriate treatment modality and treatment parameters.

What is IPL, and how does it work?

Intense Pulse Light (IPL) is an FDA approved technology that uses short pulses of broad-spectrum light directed over the skin’s surface. IPL photofacial is  a non-invasive, quick, and effective method to restore damaged skin.

The IPL machine generates a powerful broad spectrum of light, in the visible and near infrared range. Cut-off filters in the handpiece change the wavelength range allowing it to be optimized for different applications and skin types. The light energy is transmitted through the handpiece that is gently applied to the skin. The light penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by the target. The target may be blood in blood vessels (when treating vascular/red lesions), or melanin (when treating brown/pigmented lesions). The body’s natural processes then clears the lesion debris, giving the skin looking more even and youthful.

The IPL Healing Stages, Process & Recovery

The side effects of an IPL photofacial are temporary. As each reaction differs, so does their lifespan. Immediately after an IPL photo facial, your skin may look and feel like you have a sunburn. This feeling should go away within a few hours, although some redness may last for a few days.

PIGMENTATION

Your skin may look blotchy, red, a little swollen, and you will start to notice sun spots or pigmentation darkening.

They often look like “coffee grounds” and take about 7-10 days to fade or slough off. Every individual is different, though, so some may take longer to fade than others.

  1. Day 1- skin is red, blotchy, has a sunburn feeling and darkening of spots/pigmentation starts
  2. Day 2-3- skin is feeling tight and dry and the dark spots are looking like “coffee grounds”
  3. Day 4-6- skin is especially dry due to the dark spots starting to slough off and gradually fade
  4. Day 7-10- continual sloughing and fading of dark spots, but skin is returning back to normal and is looking more even-toned, radiant, and healthy.

How does IPL work to treat rosacea?

IPL can be very effective for the redness and flushing component of rosacea. By treating the blood vessels causing rosacea the vascular response is diminished. We have seen dramatic results for patients with rosacea. After several treatments their symptoms are frequently gone. While IPL will not “cure you” of rosacea, it will significantly treat the physical component of the disease process.

Typically on average 2-3 treatments are needed to clear up recurrent rosacea symptoms with another treatment recommended about once a year for maintenance purposes. These treatments are relatively quick treating the entire face in about 20 minutes.

RECOVERY

The results are magical. IPL therapy is an excellent way to treat the redness and flushing caused by rosacea. Over a period of 3-4 weeks, vessels are re-absorbed and facial redness diminishes.

IPL offers a practically painless and long term solution for rosacea treatment. Never again do you have to suffer with the discoloration and the disfiguring, often embarrassing appearance of rosacea.
